Mervyn the Manatee

In Florida's bays and springs,
Lives a gentle beast.
A friend to fish and swimming things,
He's Mervyn the Manatee.
He's as big as a whale,
With a big round tail,
That might belong to a mermaid.
And judging by his size,
Why, I'd surmise,
That he munches and crunches all day.
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
Swim and glide and play,
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
It's what Mervyn does all day.
Now Mervyn he has lots of friends,
As Mammals often will.
And they all swim swim about,
All big and stout,
And eat all of their fill.
They're all big as a whales,
With big round tails,
That might belong to a mermaid.
And judging by their size,
Why, I'd surmise,
That they munch and crunch all day.
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
Swim and glide and play,
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
It's what Mervyn does all day.
One day when they
Were swimming through
A very shallow bay,
They heard the sound,
Of a boat
And it was motoring away.
They dove straight down,
As far as they could.
Because, time and time again
Those engine blades
Would take away
Their munching, crunching friends.
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
Swim and glide and play,
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
It's what Mervyn does all day.
So remember Mervyn the Manatee,
Go slow in the "No Wake" zone.
We know Mervyn has lots of friends,
And we don't want him to be alone.
No, we want him to:
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
Swim and glide and play,
Munch and crunch, Munch and crunch,
It's what Mervyn does all day.
It's what Mervyn does all day.RRRG
